Name change reflects the growth and evolution of the UK’s private capital industry

Following approval by members at our Annual General Meeting, the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association has adopted a new name: UK Private Capital.

Chris Elphick provides his reflections on VC fundraising data in 2025 and the decline in the UK total overall. The reporting process brings together three complementary annual reports which promote transparency by the UK’s largest private equity-backed companies and their investors. Designed to be read together, the reports underpin the private equity industry’s continued commitment to openness and accountability in support of the UK economy.

This is the 18th annual report on the performance of portfolio companies, a group of large, private equity (PE) owned UK businesses that met defined criteria at the time of acquisition. Its publication is one of the steps adopted by the PE industry following the publication of guidelines by Sir David Walker to improve transparency and disclosure, under the oversight of the Private Equity Reporting Group (PERG).
